ACCESSIBLE ENTRY:

north) entrances have an automatic door. The internal doors, which
separate the Classroom Wing from the Office Wing, are not
automatic.
- Language Labs and Durham Studio Theater are both accessible
only through entrances on the rear (southwest and west sides) of
the building.
- Directory - on each floor by main entry.
- Drinking fountain - Main hall, east entry, Level D.
- Telephone - Main hall, east entrance, Level D; Durham
Theater entry; outside the North entrance.
CIRCULATION:
- Dwinelle Hall is two connected buildings. The only
connecting corridor which is free from steps occurs on Level D
(Floor #1 of the Classroom Wing and Floor #4 of the Office Wing).
There are elevators to serve each building.
- Main (south) elevator provides access to the Classroom Wing
with classrooms, lecture halls, and restrooms.
- North and northwest elevators provide access to the Office
Wing which also contains many department offices and
libraries.
REST ROOMS:
- Use main (south) elevator to Level C (Floor #0) in the
Classroom Wing.
- Women's - modified.
- Men's - modified.
PROBLEMS:
- Allow extra time to get from the Language Labs to the
classrooms in Dwinelle. You must leave the building from the rear
(west side) and go all the way around to the main (east side)
entrance. An alternative is to use the northwest (rear) entrance
and take an elevator in the Office Wing to Level D (Floor #4) to
connect to the Classroom Wing. From there take elevator in
Classroom Wing to correct floor.
POINTS OF INTEREST:
- Lecture Hall #155: Four wheelchair spaces at rear of room,
two on each side. Stage: accessible from the main (south)
elevator, but a key must be obtained from Classroom Scheduling
(642-2800, 119 Sproul).
- Lecture Hall #145: Four wheelchair spaces at rear of room,
two on each side. Stage: No access.
- Language Labs are mostly accessible, and disabled students
may borrow tapes for use at home for the semester. Assistance is
provided and alternate facilities may be available. Contact the
Classroom Supervisor (642-7221) for help in solving problems.
- Media Service's facilities are accessible. Room #23 (the
video master control room) is entered by ramp through #21.
- Durham Theater: Two wheelchair spaces at rear of room,
right side. Stage: access to the stage is almost achieved thru the
Language Labs using a key available from the Dramatic Arts
Department, but there is a 4" step, which needs a small ramp.
- Courtyard: Second floor by elevators, ramped entry.
