Gemma joined the UC Berkeley DSP team in October 2024. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies with a minor in Psychology from Cal State East Bay and a Masters of Arts degree in Counseling with an emphasis in College Student Services from Saint Mary’s College of CA. Gemma uses a holistic and person- centered approach when working with students and finds the best solutions for students by using empathy, compassion and active listening.
She brings over 10 years of experience working in higher education mentoring students as they transition from school to college, as well as mentoring students to teach them to be independent. She has also been working with special education for over 7 years, including being a Student Support Specialist for 4 years supporting young adults on the autism spectrum as they learned to live independently. Through her passion mentoring young adults in their transitions, she pursued her career in higher education.
When she is not working, Gemma enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends whether it’s outdoors on an adventure or indoors watching a movie or show. She also loves dancing, working on a jig-saw puzzle, crafting, and traveling with her family. Gemma is also a Disney fan and a Golden State Warriors fan.
