Requesting Realtime Captioning Services for Enrolled Courses (Each Semester)
Each semester you must submit your Realtime Captioning requests in the DSP Portal (AIM). It is advised that you request services as soon as you are registered so that you don’t experience a delay in receiving services. Please note that it may take up to two weeks to receive Realtime Captioning services once your request is submitted.
Instructions for requesting Realtime Captioning services are available in DOCX and PDF formats.
Scheduling Logistics
-
Adding and Dropping Classes: Use AIM to request Realtime Captioning for class changes or additions. Notify the Captioning Supervisor after making AIM updates. Please allow up to two weeks for captioning services after submitting your request.
-
Lateness or Absence: Please inform the Captioning Supervisor promptly if you're late or unable to attend class. If no advance notice is given, captioners will wait 15 minutes for one-hour classes, 20 minutes for two-hour classes, and 30 minutes for classes lasting three hours or more.
-
Class Cancellation: In the event that a class is cancelled, please notify the Captioning Supervisor as soon as possible.
Requesting Realtime Captioning Services for Course-Required Activities Outside of Class Time
If you require Realtime Captioning for class-required activities held outside of the scheduled class time (i.e. field trips, office hours, group meetings), please submit a custom request in the DSP portal (AIM). Whenever possible, please provide advance notice of such meetings or requirements.
Requesting Realtime Captioning Services for Non-Course Required Activities
If you would like to request Realtime Captioning services for an event outside of your enrolled courses, please visit Disability Access and Compliance to submit your request.
